April 18, 2021 Catechist Bulletin
Peace be with you. What does peace mean to you? At the end of the Gospel Jesus sends us out to tell the Good News. How are you doing this?
Confirmation will be celebrated in our parish on April 25. The Bishop will be here for the week-end. It might be good to review who our Bishop is. You can find a picture of Bishop John in the upstairs hall way. Confirmation candidates are: Jacob Byrd, Gabe Claybrook, Lyla Durham, Valeria Garcia, Hunter Martin, Emma Parman, Joaquin Pauig, Isaiah Rush, Maya Searcey, Dawsen Walker and Lydia de la Hoya Garcia. Lucas Allen will be confirmed at St. Ann.
First Communion will be celebrated on May 2. Makayla Boothe, James Gilbert, Jackson Parman, Mason Prewitt, and Sarah Walker will receive their First Communion. We continue to pray for those who are receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist and their catechists.
On May 23 – Pentecost, Andrew Gross will make his profession of faith in the Catholic Church.
We tried a zoom meeting. Aaron, Kayla and I met. Some questions - Will we want our May devotions to be part of the celebration? Do you want something special to give students at the end of the year? If it is nice, maybe we could have an outdoor donuts & drinks after Mass. Encourage community buildling. Maybe we can encourage all to come to church and sit as families.
VBS - What about a VBS the week of June 14? How will that inerfere with sports? I think we can do an inperson gathering this year. Do you think evening or daytime is best? We will also plan some “catch up days” to cover some material we did not cover this year.
Catechist certification is something we need to talk about.
We would like to have an inperson meeting of catechists on May 23, the
Sunday after classes end – 9:00 – 10:30 in the Education building.
***Question - What do we do about those who have not participated this year? Do we have some make-up sessions before they go on to the next year? Do they repeat grade missed? What are your thoughts? This was asked at a meeting I was attending. I would like your input. We can discuss this at our meeting. We talked about “days” at church; VBS style meetings, and will look at other options.
Continue to be “Alleluia” people. Our Easter season continues until Pentecost.
